The Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie, Tennessee was organized on July 17, 1867 with the Rev. J. M. Davies and 19 charter members, using the name “Bethlehem congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at McKenzie, Tennessee. In 1872 land was purchased from J. M. McKenzie on Stonewall Street for $400 (1 1/3 acres). The congregation did erect a frame building at the back of the property but met building difficulties and actually worshiped at Bethel College for some years...
Rev. Kevin Wood was recommended by the Search Committee and the Session issued a call for him to become our Senior Pastor. He answered that call affirmatively. He and his wife, Nancy moved to McKenzie May 10, 2014.
Rev. Wood was the church planter for the Stonegate Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was pastor of Hillview CP Church in Louisville, Ky and has pastored Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in Greeneville, Tn, Fairfield, Il, and most recently in Knoxville, Tn.
